Inside-to-Outside Continuum of Support
Building Seamless Pathways from Incarceration to Opportunity
Impact Equitable Justice's Inside-to-Outside Continuum of Support bridges the gap between correctional training and community employment. This systems-level service aligns education, workforce development, and reentry resources to ensure that individuals leaving incarceration have a clear, supported pathway to sustainable employment.
The continuum connects every stage of the journey—training inside correctional facilities, transition planning before release, and employment support after reentry—into one coordinated system centered on equity, dignity, and opportunity.
Why It Matters
For too long, the journey from incarceration to employment has been fragmented. Training programs often fail to connect with real jobs, and workforce systems rarely align with correctional education. This disconnect leaves justice-impacted individuals underprepared and underemployed, despite their potential.
By linking inside training with outside opportunity, IEJI helps correctional and workforce
partners create lasting change—building stronger local economies, reducing recidivism, and restoring pathways to dignity and belonging.
Connecting Training, Reentry & Employment
Our continuum is built on four coordinated pillars that bring alignment,
accountability, and opportunity into one system:
# 1. Labor Market Alignment
Training inside correctional facilities is matched to local, in-demand industries and real job opportunities.
#2. Pre-Release Career Navigation
Participants receive early career coaching, digital credentialing, and pre-release transition planning.
#3. Digital Access & Portability
Skills and credentials earned inside are stored digitally and travel with participants after release.
#4. Reentry & Employment Coordination
Community-based partners continue wraparound supports, job placement, retention assistance, and career advancement.
Systemic Impact
By connecting correctional education to workforce opportunity, IEJI helps regions:
- Strengthen collaboration between corrections, workforce boards, and employers
- Expand access to high-quality career pathways for justice-impacted individuals.
- Reduce recidivism by increasing economic stability and belonging.
- Advance systems change that centers equity and opportunity for all.
